LMN Solutions, Inc. Announces Automated Testing with Selenium Training Class
LMN, a leader in Mission-Focused Technology Solutions, is introducing a new training program on Automated Testing with Selenium in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.
LMN’s Automated Testing with Selenium training class provides software testers and developers hands-on experience in writing and maintaining Selenium tests. Participants will learn about the importance of automated testing in the Agile software development process along with how to implement Selenium tests for their web-based system. There is no coding experience required but students will learn basic coding techniques to improve test coverage of a web application.
LMN is leading the advancement of Agile software development processes and recognizes that automated testing is an integral part of the process. LMN will offer the class on a quarterly basis in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. The next class will be offered June 14-15th, 2011 in Reston, Virginia. The course can also be customized and delivered at your location for groups of 8-12 people.
Brad Johnson, a Practice Lead at LMN Solutions, is currently concentrating on automated testing of web applications and the use of software in the geospatial and cybersecurity areas. He brings over 20 years of hands-on experience and deep understanding of the technology to the class.

Building a Deeper Understanding of Ruby
LMN Solutions has been finding creative uses of the Ruby programming language since 2005. Initially spurred on by our interest in the Ruby on Rails web development framework, we've since found numerous applications for Ruby scripting and application development. In the words of Martin Fowler, the Ruby language API provides a "Humane Interface", one that tries "to find out what people want to do and design the interface so that it's really easy to do the common case." This interface, combined with the amazing power of the Rails framework, and its influential "convention over configuration" approach has allowed LMN to achieve amazing productivity and build spectacular applications for our customers.
We have enough developers that have been able to get productive with Ruby that we wanted to dive in a little deeper in understanding the advanced Ruby techniques that made a framework like Rails possible, and to be able to provide some of that power in our own applications. LMN Solutions Joins Google Solutions Marketplace
Content Integration: Data Access - Unprotected Content - Our general process flow:
- Work with data owners to define which content should be crawled.
- Define a GSA collection for the content.
- Create URL patterns necessary to identify content for crawling.
- GSA crawls all content accessible to provisioned user and adds it to the index.
- Search results for the site are examined and crawling patterns are tuned
- Additional search quality tuning is performed [refer to section on Search Quality Tuning
- User interface is optionally modified to allow for selective filtering of content based on the defined collection.
In some cases, advice will be provided to webmasters and system owners as to how to ensure their sites can facilitate crawling. In addition, principles of web design, such as ensuring that web links in applications (which can cause changes to data) are protected via HTTP POST operations will be communicated to the system owners.
Agile Integration: Data Access - Protected Content - Controlled access content includes information which is protected by authentication mechanisms. While access to this data is protected when it is being crawled, the content can be served as public or controlled access. When data is served as controlled access content, the authorization decision will be delegated by the GSA to the policy decision point or the source system.
